Passive Thermography Measurement of Damage Depth During Composites Load Testing

نویسندگان

چکیده

Passive thermography is commonly used for composites load testing to detect damage formation as a function of the applied load. The advantages passive are real time implementation, large area coverage, and noncontact measurement. able location size, however, depth has been challenge quasistatic loading. Recent work shown that during loading produces heating composed two heat generation components. first component an instantaneous thermal response due irreversible thermoelastic strain release rapid formation. second observed mechanical heating, at interface failure, fracture transient rise in surface temperature depth. defines start response. A one-dimensional model, independent delamination gap spacing, presented fitted data pixel by pixel, produce imagery percent difference between results, compared ultrasonic measurements length width, was on average 15%. X-ray CT 7%. This same processing technique detection cyclic well.

Early Damage Detection in Composites during Fabrication and Mechanical Testing

Fully integrated monitoring systems have shown promise in improving confidence in composite materials while reducing lifecycle costs. A distributed optical fibre sensor is embedded in a fibre reinforced composite laminate, to give three sensing regions at different levels through-the-thickness of the plate. This study follows the resin infusion process during fabrication of the composite, monit...

Non-destructive Evaluation of Composites Materials by Pulsed-phase Thermography: Depth Inversion

This work is focused in the application of Pulsed-Phase Thermography (PPT) to non-destructive evaluation of composite materials. In this approach, the composite sample is heated by a thermal pulse briefly and recording the surface temperature decay with an infrared camera. Data processing and depth inversion is carried out by extracting and analyzing the response of the sample on the frequency ...

Infrared Thermography for Temperature Measurement and Non-Destructive Testing

The intensity of the infrared radiation emitted by objects is mainly a function of their temperature. In infrared thermography, this feature is used for multiple purposes: as a health indicator in medical applications, as a sign of malfunction in mechanical and electrical maintenance or as an indicator of heat loss in buildings. This paper presents a review of infrared thermography especially f...

Resistive load detection during passive ventilation.

By using standard psychophysical techniques resistive load detection was estimated in five normal subjects during spontaneous breathing and during passive ventilation in a Drinker respirator. 2. During assisted ventilation a gross deterioration in resistive load detection occurred. 3. The findings imply that active respiratory muscle contraction plays an essential role in the detection of added...

‌Progressive Damage Analysis of Laminated Composites using Continuum Damage Mechanics

In this paper, progressive damage and global failure of composite laminates under quasi-static, monotonic loading are investigated using 3D continuum damage mechanics. For this purpose, a finite element program has been developed using an eight-node 2D layered element including layer-wise plate theory. Damage analysis of a single orthotropic layer under various uniform in-plane and transverse l...
